THE (HE)ART OF GLASS
On the island of Malta we found capable masters in the art of glassblowing. They create gorgious collections of glass. Every piece is a unique masterpiece.
Glass pellets are fused in a special oven at 1,100° C (2,012° F) and are then worked at approximately 800° C (1,472° F). All glass is white and the colour is put in by covering the glass with different coloured pigments to achieve the desired colour. As the glass is being blown it is constantly returned to what is known as the Glory Hole to keep the glass climatised and at a temperature that makes it manageable to shape.
